National Voter Registration Day is September 15—let’s make Wake County count!
The League of Women Voters of Wake County is mobilizing members for a powerful day of community engagement, and every League member can play a part through our individual Voter Registration Campaign.
How It Works
Sign up to receive a Voter Registration Kit, then take civic action wherever your day takes you. As you visit your neighborhood, workplace, businesses, community spaces, or events, you get to engage Wake County residents and help them take the next step in democracy—whether by submitting a new voter-registration application or updating an address, name, or party affiliation.

Our goal is to activate at least 150 League members on September 15. Save the date, invite fellow members to join you, and be ready for National Voter Registration Day.

How You can help:
Contacting candidates between Sept. 15 and Oct. 15 after we invite them to be a part of our online voter guide.
Placing VOTE411 signs at one or more early voting sites. Signs will need to go out Oct. 14 or 15, and be taken down by end of day on Oct. 31 or if the early voting site also serves as a polling place on election day, signs can stay until the end of the day on Nov. 3.

| | What a year! LWV-Wake members continued to turn voices into votes and action into impact across Wake County. From voter outreach and candidate forums to civics education, advocacy, community programs, and member engagement, our volunteers showed up in countless ways to empower voters and defend democracy. More than 13,000 users engaged with VOTE411, and our members contributed thousands of volunteer hours throughout the year.

|  | Three Constitutional Amendments. Three Lasting Decisions.
This November, North Carolina voters will decide whether to add three amendments to our state Constitution—decisions that could have lasting consequences for voting, local government funding, and the state’s ability to raise revenue. The proposals address absentee voter photo ID, limits on local property tax revenue, and the state income tax rate cap.
LWVNC has taken positions on all three amendments and created a resource explaining what each would do, why the League is concerned, and what voters should know before casting their ballots.

Mark Your Calendar - OCTOBER 3rd
Wake County Board of Commissioners
Please join us as we host the Wake County Board of Commissioners Candidate Forum.
The Board of Commissioners is growing from seven to nine commissioners. The Forum will include candidates for the two new At-Large positions and District 2 (other districts on the ballot this year are uncontested).
WHEN: Saturday, Oct. 3 from 10-11:30 a.m.
WHERE: Christ the King Lutheran Church 400 Walnut Street Cary, NC 27502

VIRTUAL FORUMS
Virtual candidate forums will also be conducted to help inform voters. This year’s virtual forums are recorded only (no live audience) and include:
- Wake County Board of Education Districts 1, 2, 7, 9
- Wake County Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor
All virtual forum recordings as well as the recording of the Wake County Board of Commissioners in-person event will be posted on the LWV-Wake YouTube page and Vote411.org before early voting.
|  | Democracy works when people participate. Whether you're thanking an election worker, serving as a poll worker yourself, or helping voters access information, each of us has a role to play.
Be an Election Hero! Voters need smart, nonpartisan, dedicated people to work the polls. This is a great way to help fulfill our mission to ensure every eligible voter has a chance for their voice to be heard. (And you can earn a little cash.) Wake County is taking applications now for election officials - please consider applying!

A Wonderful Evening Celebrating Women’s Equality
What a special evening we shared at our annual Women’s Equality Day celebration, honoring the women elected officials who serve our community. This event is always a special opportunity to reconnect with one another, meet and celebrate our honorees, and come together in support of the League’s mission.
Events like this don't happen without the dedication of many people. A heartfelt thank you to Robin Hammond and Suzanne Botts who chaired WED this year. Our League leadership and volunteers also really came through to support all the details, as well as the Cary-Page Rotary Club, the NC Coast Pines Girl Scout Troop 1249 and the Southwest Edgecombe High School Air Force JROTC for helping make the evening so memorable.
We were thrilled to be at capacity with more than 120 attendees and 36 honorees. We are still running the final numbers, but our gross proceeds exceeded $15,000. After expenses, we expect to surpass our budgeted fundraising goal to support of our work to empower voters and defend democracy. Thank you to our SPONSORS— and to everyone who attended, contributed, and volunteered to help make this year's celebration such a success!

Tuesday, September 8, 2026, 3:00 PM until 4:30 PM Women's Rights and Healthcare Committee (Zoom).
The Women's Rights & Healthcare Committee works on a range of issues impacting women's rights and healthcare including, but not limited to, reproductive healthcare, the Equal Rights Amendment, child care, employment opportunity equality, and menstrual equity. Committee members investigate North Carolina laws to determine where improvements can be made and where new laws are needed.

The group meets every 2nd Thursday of the month, virtually. They are typically planning meetings and all members are welcome.

Members of this committee work on GOTV projects, monitor local BOE meetings, educate the community about elections, as well as help register voters at various community events.

League of Women Voters Joins Women’s Suffrage National Monument Foundation as Historic Partner; CEO Celina Stewart is Named to Council of Ambassadors
In celebration of Women’s Equality Day and as the nation celebrates the historic 250th anniversary year for the United States, the League of Women Voters (LWV) announced it is joining the Women’s Suffrage National Monument Foundation as an official partner in the effort to build the first monument on the National Mall dedicated to the history of American women and the suffrage movement.
