LWV-Wake Update 10/12/2026 | Welcome back to your exclusive, bi-weekly newsletter of the League of Women Voters of Wake County. If someone forwarded this to you and you'd like to be added to our mailing list, become a member, or are interested in learning more, just click here. | | Hello ~~first_name~~,
Election Day is just around the corner! There’s still plenty of time to get involved and help us fulfill our mission of Empowering Voters and Defending Democracy.
There are many ways to participate—and you can choose what works for you. Help plan by joining a committee. Learn by reading the newsletter, attending a Meet & Chat, Timely Topics, Candidate Forum, or committee event. Take action by volunteering, responding to Action Alerts, or sharing accurate voting information on social media.
And remember, you’re part of a community. You don’t have to do it all, and you don’t have to do it alone. Whether you have an hour to volunteer, want to help plan an event, or simply want to stay informed, there’s a place for you.
One great example of our impact is the success of our recent Candidate Forums. The Voter Services Committee has been active and getting noticed. Our Candidate Forums were highlighted in the events sections of local media outlets, such as Patch Cary, Holly Springs Update, RALToday and Raleigh Mom Club, driving awareness and attendance for our Forum.
Ready to take action? Sign up for a VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY. Want to get more involved behind the scenes? Join a COMMITTEE MEETING. We hope to see you soon!

| | | Constitutional Amendments on the Ballot: How Could They Impact North Carolina?
Want to learn more about the Constitutional Amendments on NC ballots this year? Watch this recorded conversation hosted by Public Schools First NC and the League of Women Voters of North Carolina with legal experts.
Voters will consider amendments addressing the state's maximum income tax rate, limits on local property-tax levies, and photo ID requirements for voting. This webinar focuses primarily on the two tax-related amendments and what they could mean for funding public schools and other public services. Constitutional amendments are consequential: once approved by voters, they become part of the state constitution and are more difficult to change than ordinary laws. Our presenters explain what the proposed amendments would do, how they could affect state and local government, and what voters should understand before casting their ballots. Our guests are Marcus Gadson, Associate Professor of Law at the UNC School of Law, and Hilary Harris Klein, Senior Council with the Southern Coalition for Social Justice.
| | Know before you VOTE: Three Constitutional Amendments. Three Lasting Decisions.
This November, North Carolina voters will decide whether to add three amendments to our state Constitution—decisions that could have lasting consequences for voting, local government funding, and the state’s ability to raise revenue. The proposals address absentee voter photo ID, limits on local property tax revenue, and the state income tax rate cap.
LWVNC has taken positions against all three amendments and created a resource explaining what each would do, why the League is concerned, and what voters should know before casting their ballots.
Get informed—and help others do the same. Read and share LWVNC’s 2026 Constitutional Amendments resource, including the
"LWVNC Amendments Position" brief.
