Welcome New Members

Welcome to LWV-Wake!
We are excited to have you as a member and look forward to helping you discover more about the League and ways to get involved.

The best way to start learning more about us is to explore our website, especially the Events page. Our League provides you with a variety of opportunities based on your interest and activity level. Join us for informative events, help a committee work on an important issue, assist with the League's operation, or just meet like-minded people. We’ll help you find the activities that meet your goals!

Get to Know Us! Attend League 101
We want to meet you!
League 101 is a two-hour orientation to the League offered in the Spring and Fall. You’ll learn about League history, policies, committees, and the resources and information available on our website.
Most importantly, you’ll meet other new members and have a chance to talk about how you can get involved. We recommend League 101 for every new member.
League 101 sessions are announced on our website, on our social media accounts: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Bluesky as well as through our regular email updates. If you're pressed for time, our Basic Introduction to the League of Women Voters of Wake County is also available on our YouTube channel.

Visit a League Committee
Committees are where the League’s work comes to life.

Joining one or more is one of the best ways to meet members who share your interests, learn more about the League, and make a meaningful impact in our community.

Not sure which committee is right for you? You're welcome to attend a meeting before deciding. If you choose to join, you'll receive updates from the committee chair about meetings and activities, and you can participate as much as your schedule allows. You will find that committees often meet online to help make it easy to participate. Meeting information is noted on the calendar and when you register you get updates with meeting information.

To explore LWV-Wake's current committees or contact a committee chair, visit our Committee page online: Our Work

Whether you have 30 minutes a month or several hours to give, there are many ways to make a difference. We offer opportunities for every level of commitment—from one-time projects to ongoing volunteer roles.

Visit our Volunteer Opportunities page to explore current ways to get involved, but keep in mind it's just a sampling of the many ways you can help.

Don't see something that matches your interests or skills? Reach out to a committee chair to ask about other opportunities. As an all-volunteer organization, we rely on members like you to make our work possible.

We encourage all LWV-Wake members to order a personalized name badge for $20. The plastic badge is printed with your name, has a magnetic fastener, and comes with a velvet storage pouch.
