Protecting Voting Rights

The right to vote is a fundamental principle of our democracy. When more Americans can participate in our elections, the outcome better reflects who we are as a state and as a nation. We work to promote policies and procedures that increase voter turnout and help make our elections more free, fair and accessible. Accurate Voting Records

LWVWake’s report “Employing Technology to Ensure Fair and Accurate Election Records” makes specific recommendations for adopting a set of established cybersecurity best practices and for joining other states in a nation-wide consortium for sharing and matching voter data.

Election Technology

LWV-Wake monitors state and county processes for certifying and purchasing voting machines. The League expressed concerns regarding some of the machines proposed for purchase by the Board of Elections.

League’s Statement Expressing Concern Regarding Implementation of Voter ID Law - This statement was presented by the LWV-Wake president at the March 15, 2019 State Board of Elections hearing.
