Join the League of Women Voters via Zoom on January 25, 2024 at 5:30 pm to meet Ms. McCall and learn about upcoming changes to the election process and how the League might help with educational efforts about those changes.  

Olivia McCall assumed the role of Director for the Wake County Board of Elections following the retirement of Gary Sims in May. She and her staff manage all elections occurring in Wake County at 212 polling places.

In addition, she works closely with the appointed Wake County Board to certify elections and to resolve outstanding issues with operations, procedures, and ballots.

Olivia McCall
Olivia McCall is the Director of Elections for Wake County and serves on the Executive Committee for the North Carolina Association of Directors of Elections.

As the Director of Elections, Olivia leads a dedicated team responsible for orchestrating all electoral processes within Wake County. Her role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including the establishment of election precincts and voting locations, the appointment and training of Precinct Officials, as well as the preparation and distribution of ballots and voting equipment. She also oversees the crucial task of canvassing and certifying ballots, upholding the integrity of the electoral process, and investigating any instances of voting irregularities.

Prior to assuming the role of Director in June 2023, she was the Deputy Director of Elections in Wake County from 2019 to 2023, and earlier, served as the Department's Business Officer from 2016 to 2019. McCall served as Elections Coordinator for Cabarrus County from 2011 to 2013 and subsequently as Deputy Director from 2013 to 2016. Her prior experience also includes a role as Campaign Finance Specialist for the Wake County Board of Elections.

Olivia graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Meredith College and holds certifications as a NC Elections Administrator from the State Board of Elections, as well as a Hardware Technician from Election Systems & Software.

Olivia currently lives in Raleigh with her husband and 3 children.
