New Year 2024_Newsletter
Dear ~~first_name~~,

Greetings from LWV-Wake.

Happy New Year! 🎊 I hope everyone took time for family, friends and a little self-care. It's good to start the year feeling a bit recharged, especially since League activities have greatly increased.

Not only are our membership numbers climbing steadily, but we are also seeing an increase in requests for our voter outreach services. It's a great time to be a member of an organization who truly serves our community by empowering voters through advocacy and education.

Please take a moment to log in, update your membership (if necessary), and see the many volunteer opportunities. Please also continue to check the League calendar for event updates.

As a reminder, all volunteer opportunities and some events are only displayed to members so you must first log into the website to be recognized as a member. If you see a message 'no volunteer opportunities available' or do not see a 'Register' button for an event, then you are not logged in.

We are also steadily increasing our work with other organizations. We continue to partner with Wake Tech to energize young voters and are finalizing events with Campbell University Law School and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.

Wake Tech - MLK Voter Education & Civic Engagement Event
Volunteers Needed January 11th
Martin Luther King, in addition to advocating for civil and voting rights, also advocated for public service. MLK Day evolved into a 'Day of Service' after Congress passed the the 1994 King Holiday & Service Act.

What better way to honor Dr. King than to help register and have conversations with young voters about the importance of voting during Wake Tech's event this Thursday? This is a great opportunity for League members to help younger voters understand the importance of voting as the first step in creating the change they wish to see. We need just a few more volunteers to ensure a successful outreach event.

You can sign up by clicking on one the links below (make sure you also log in). Please note: This event is being held simultaneously at North and South Campuses. Please note the location you are signing up for. Volunteers will receive an email confirmation as well as a email that contains a parking pass:

Check Your Membership Status! The League Needs Your Involvement and Support

The last quarter of the calendar year brings all of us much activity and many distractions. It may be an excellent time to check on your membership status with the League.  Many memberships expired between July 1 and the end of December. Don’t miss your access to programs, events, socials, and the news alerts by having your membership expire.

Go online (www.lwvwake.org) and log in to your account (the upper right hand corner) and click on “join or renew” to pay your current dues online via a credit card or PayPal. You may also send your check ($60 for individuals; $90 for households) to the office (3509 Haworth Drive Suite 306  Raleigh, NC 27609) and your payment will be recorded and your membership status updated.  If your membership lapsed earlier in the year, you many need to rejoin as a new member.

Questions? Concerns? Email Membership Co-Chair Dale Cousins @ dalenbill@gmail.com.

There is work to do in 2024.  Let’s make it an active and happy 2024 with individual support and efforts.
