Dear ~~first_name~~,

HELLO 2025 - LWV-Wake is here, stronger than ever, ready to embrace 2025 with gratitude for a fantastic year of 2024 and endless courage, optimism and hope for another great year.

First, a couple of notes about LWV-Wake's 2024 year end:

THANKS TO ALL OF YOU for a fantastic #GivingTuesday Campaign. With you, our incredible members, and your generosity, we surpassed our $5,000 Giving Tuesday goal! According to our Facebook post, "Your member contributions are what keep us going strong in the fight for fair elections, voter access, and democratic values right here in our community."

For the General Election of 2024, LWV-Wake had a stellar turnout of volunteers, events and social media posts ensuring that voters were informed and reminded about their constitutional right and responsibility of voting. In 2024, you registered over 1,500 voters; influenced the turnout rate of 76% of Wake County voters; held well over 100 events (15 of them for college and university students); hosted nine candidate forums, which were viewed by over 900 voters; and gave voter guidance to more than 58,000 viewers on VOTE411.org. CONGRATULATIONS FOR A JOB WELL DONE!!

In 2025, LWV-Wake will continue our mission of Empowering Voters and Defending Democracy.

See below for information on the premiere of the 2025 Timely Topics series: Analysis of the 2024 General Election. Join us for this Zoom session on Tuesday, January 14 at 5:00 p.m.

On Saturday, February 1, LWVUS will introduce the new League membership platform, ChapterSpotChapterSpot will provide a centralized location where any person can join the League or renew their membership, regardless of which League they are joining.

Please see below for information on Membership Changes & Website Training hosted by Cheryl Tung. It's suggested that you attend one of the two Zoom presentations.

Also, February 1 is the LWV-Wake/Girl Scouts Third Annual 2025 Voter Girl Event. This event is held in partnership with the NC Coastal Pines Council for Girl Scouts to obtain their Democracy Badge. Approximately 90 Girl Scouts will work with LWV-Wake volunteers and government officials to learn about democracy, and the importance of voting and civic engagement. See below for more information.

Looking forward to a fantastic 2025!

LWV-WAKE MEMBER EVENTS

Revised v4 ChapterSpot Training

Membership Changes & Website Training

In early February, 2025, all LWV members will be emailed asking you to login to a new membership platform called ChapterSpot to confirm your contact information for subsequent dues payment when it is time for membership renewal.

ChapterSpot will ONLY be used at this time for dues collection, and we will continue using our existing website for all other League activities. This change is part of the LWVUS Transformation Journey that was approved by members during the 2018 convention to become a larger, more unified and impactful League.

Information about the changes can be found on our ChapterSpot Resources page on our website.

LWV-Wake is hosting two Zoom sessions to prepare and provide members with information about upcoming membership changes, what actions you will need to take, and how these changes may affect our local League.

In addition, we will briefly review some of the common website tasks on LWV-Wake org. This includes logging in, creating/modifying your member profile, volunteer sign-ups, and event registration. There will be time for Q & A.

Two sessions will be offered to accommodate schedules. You may attend either session, as the content will be the same.

Affordable Housing Committee Co-Chairs Liz Simon-Bryant and Robin Hammond have written a letter to all LWV-Wake members, inviting us to join them in, "...advancing the work of the Affordable Housing Committee."

The letter reads in part, "This year, we are especially reminded of the profound legacy of President Jimmy Carter, who recently passed away...His dedication serves as a power example of how one person's passion can transform lives and build stronger communities."

2025 Skinny House

Advocate for Affordable Housing

The City of Raleigh is holding in-person budget listening sessions starting this evening. If you live in Raleigh, you can attend and advocate for more spending on affordable housing.

The Budget and Management Services Department hosts these sessions to hear from residents about how they want their tax dollars to be spent. The City's budget is created with the input of residents, and the sessions are an important part of this process.

Please click below for session schedules, including tonight's meeting.
